What Is Botox?
Botox is a nonsurgical, cosmetic treatment that temporarily minimizes and smoothes out fine lines and wrinkles on the face. It has become a popular quick fix for a younger appearance in men and women.
In one treatment of a couple of tiny injections, within a few days there is an improvement in the frown lines between the eye brows that may last up to four months.
Botox is a protein that is made by botulism toxin that cosmetic doctors inject underneath the skin that paralyzes the facial muscles which in turn provides the recipient a smooth, youthful facial appearance.
With any type of medical procedure there are risks. It is very rare to get a side affect, but an allergic reaction to Botox is possible, and since it paralyzes the muscle, it can cause the recipient to have a surprised appearance or a permanent frown. Since this is a temporary fix, the affects don’t last long.
This procedure is easier and less painful than a face lift. You don’t have to deal with pain, bandages, swelling, stitches or bruising for weeks. It is a procedure that is done within 10 minutes and in a day or two the swelling is down and the evidence of where the needle was administered is gone after 24 hours.
