Virgin’s ADSL Broadband Service Marred by Activation Delays

Posted in Uncategorized

Virgin Media’s ADSL broadband service has registered delays in the activation of service for the new customers, who recently signed up for the re-launched package.

Last month saw a major marketing campaign by Virgin Broadband to promote its newly launched ADSL service targeted at the customers living beyond its current cable broadband network. However, the company had not expected such a huge number of customers to switch providers and opt for their ADSL service. This in turn led to a shortage of modem kits and the delays in fulfilling the orders.

While talking to The Register, a news site, the spokesman for Virgin Media admitted that the company received a huge number of orders, which delayed the connection of the new customers to the telephone line rental service, as well as, the high speed network. He also added that shortfall in modem stock had been taken care of and the work of connecting the rest of the customers was already in progress. He also extended the company’s apologies to the customers for the delays.

The introduction of a telephone line rental service and the upgraded speeds of 20Mbps had been the main focus of the marketing mission, but the delays in installation has raised certain questions. One concern that still remains is whether the company would refund the £30 activation fee paid by the customers, because of such inordinate delays.
