Sign up for the Spanish El Gordo via E-Lottery
The first time you hear about the El Gordo Loteria, part of the Euromillions Euro lottery, you absolutely need to learn more. The lottery is noted for top payouts that number amongst the richest wherever in the world you look – payouts as high as more than two and a half billion Euros. And yet there’s more. With more than 13,000 prizes being offered, your odds of winning something work out to around one in every six. When you consider prizes given by competing lotteries, that’s certainly not bad. In the Euromillions Euro lotto one draw is made every month. Grander prizes can be won at special lotteries held three months a year. The special draws take place in January, summer, and at Christmas: these are, in order, El Nio, San Ildefonso and El Gordo (which, appropriately, means “the Fat Cat”).
Balls with numbers in a range between 00,000 and 84,999 are not what you expect to see from lottery systems, but the El Gordo lottery employs an unusual approach using them. One ball apiece is drawn from two bowls; the first draw determines the winner, the second what the ticket is worth. Thinking of entering this lottery draw? There are two basic choices; first, you can buy a “serie” or a full ticket. Also available is a “décimo”, which is worth one-tenth of a full ticket. This is the cheaper option. Unfortunately, both these choices are pricey ways to play nor will either of them increase your chances of winning in any case. As a consequence the Euromillions Euro Lottery also offers an e-lottery system.
With the e-lottery system, you can be confident of winning a prize. You simply buy your way into the El Gordo Lotto syndicate where you’re pooled into teams. Each team is assigned a number from zero to nine, the last digit of the winning number in the draw being used to identify the team which wins the prize. An even distribution of the prize amongst the team comes next. In anticipation of next month’s lottery, the syndicate offers subscriptions once again to continue the e-lottery. It is natural to wonder whether it would be worth sharing these pots. What you have to remember is that when the amount being divided is 2.6 billion Euros, a share works out at a considerable sum of money. No need for concern with this system for the simple reason that you’re guaranteed to win a prize during each draw, and on top of that a place in the syndicate is the cheaper approach. It’s the smart approach to the El Gordo lotto.
