Traffic Building: Reciprocal Linking

Posted in Uncategorized

Reciprocal linking is considered by many people the most effective way to increase traffic to your website. You often get hits from the web sites that you have exchanged your links with, and reciprocal linking also helps boost your search engine rankings.

What is a reciprocal link?

A reciprocal link is a link to a website that carries a similar link back to your own website.

A reciprocal link is a common thread between you and another website owner. You both likely share similar websites and content, and you are o’kay with the possibility of a viewer leaving your site to take a look at your linking partner’s site.

What a reciprocal link is not…

A reciprocal link is not a cure all! Many times webmasters have a ton of links. The problem is that many of those links are broken or out of date. I will share a resource to help you find those broken links in a minute. But first you need to find sites to link to!

What is Isaiah Thomas Doing?

Posted in Uncategorized

When the New York Knicks hired former player and coach Isaiah Thomas they thought they were back on their way to the top of the standings. Thomas was successful as a player winning two championships and being an all-star several times despite being under six feet tall. Thomas was also successful as a coach. He coached the Indiana Pacers to several successful seasons before being unexpectedly fired by Larry Bird.

Too bad Thomas has not been able to duplicate that success as general manger of the Knicks. His boss has basically given him the green light to spend as much money that he needs to build a winning team, something that few general managers get permission to do. He has taken his great opportunity to build a winning team and has blown money by overpaying underachieving players and trading for bad long term contracts. He brought in Jerome James, a guy that had a few decent playoff games during a contract year, now he is back to him underachieving self. He brought in Quentin Richardson and undersized shooting guard that can’t shoot. He traded the expiring contract of Antonio Davis for Jalen Rose’s longer deal. He also traded for overpaid Steve Francis when he already had Marbury.

Unless Thomas gets more common sense or gets fired, New York Knicks fans are in for a few years of heartache.

More on Practice

Posted in Uncategorized

If you insist on going to the range to practice, then really practice golf. Golf is not 50 shots with a 7-iron at a single target — nor is that good practice.

Jack Nicklaus knows how to practice. I watched him at the Canadian Open in 1975 after his round. He got a bag of about 25 balls. He picked out a target and then worked over that shot like it was the most important one of his life. He checked the wind, his lie and the target distance. When he felt he had all the information correct, he chose a club, lined up and focused on delivering the ball to the chosen target. He hit the best shot he was capable of hitting.

Then he went down the line of professionals on the range hitting balls and talked to Arnold Palmer for a couple of minutes. He came back to his spot, picked out another target and went through the same process as if this was the shot of the century. After that shot he went down the line and talked to Lee Trevino for a couple of minutes, then returned for another very important shot with a different club and a different target.

Nicklaus was actually practicing golf. He aimed at different targets, used different clubs and took about five minutes between shots. It’s against the rules to play on the course between rounds, so Nicklaus was doing the next best thing. This is the best of “sterile” practice and is more than I can reasonably ask from my students.

Learn to “practice” by hitting no more than two shots per club, per target, per day. You may not hit all good practice shots, but you will be far better prepared to hit good shots during your round of golf. Practice making specific kinds of shots; draws, fades, high, low, low fades and high draws. You will actually be trying to make shots rather than simply trying to hit as many balls as possible in the allotted time.

When practicing, plan to end your session on a positive note – and that means leaving a few balls in the bucket. If you’ve just hit a good shot and there are five or six balls left, leave them for someone else or hit short wedge shots. It’s important to end your full shot practice with a very good shot.

The best practice for your golf game is on the course. Play lots of golf. You may even find that when the course is quiet in the middle of the afternoon you can go out by yourself. You may even be able to hit some extra shots when you have hit a bad one. Always take care of the course by replacing divots in the fairway and fixing ball marks on the green.

One way I practiced as I was preparing to play on the PGA Tour was as follows. While I was an assistant at the Philadelphia C. C., I frequently played by myself in the early evenings. I played four balls and was in a real competition with Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player. Tis true that I hit all the shots but the competition was my score against the best ball of the three greats. I did not always win. But sometimes I had a great day and caught them napping!

I wonder if my practice technique had anything to do with the fact that I played in competition with Gary Player ( I scored lower than Gary that day) and Jack Nicklaus ( Jack won the tournament that day and scored lower than I did).

Range practice ends up becoming “swing-fixing,” which hurts your swing and your game. Practice golf by playing golf on the course. Your game will improve as a result.

On the other hand, you can hit as many short shots around the green and on the green as you like. Practice your pitching from 40 yards and closer at many different targets for an hour each day.

Practice your putting for an hour every day. Use the following putting exercise. Put four balls around a cup at one foot. Make those and move to two foot putts, then to three foot putts on up to six foot putts. When you miss a putt, start over from one foot. The contest is to make all the putts from six feet — then have lunch! Great diet.

For a change of pace take one ball, pitch it on the green and putt it in. Go to a different spot, pitch it on the green and putt it in. Get so good that you can get it up and down (one pitch, one putt) from anywhere. This is the type of practice that really pays off.

The bottom line is to play a lot of golf and use any leftover time to practice your short game. That’s wise practice.

Enjoy the game and practice intentionally.

Mark Your Ball-And Your Tee?

Posted in Uncategorized

Next time you are marking your ball so you can find it, (We know our customers don’t hit them in the woods often …..but you never know right.) remember to keep your Sharpie out and mark your tee as well.

Why would I Mark my tee??

Well if you want to be a little more consistent off the tee, you should be marking not only your golf balls but your tees as well.

Ever wish you could have that consistent ball flight that the guys on tour have off the tee? Well you can…ok maybe not tour like but a definite improvement.

Drivers have something called (Bulge & Roll) on their faces. What this means is that no driver has a straight face. Bulge is the amount the face curves on its horizontal axis and roll is the amount the face curves on its vertical axis. Bulge is there to help you if you hit it off-center towards the toe or the heel. It works like a gear effect on a toe shot and reduces the amount the ball slices and on heel shots it reduces the amount the ball will hook.

So, let’s say you have a 10 Degree driver. Yes, the bulge on this driver will help but the roll actually will hurt more then it helps. Actually it doesn’t help at all. We take this 10 Degree driver and hit it only ” too high on the face. Well now we are hitting a 12 Degree driver. Hit this same driver ” too low on the face and now you are hitting an 8 Degree driver. Now you see why when you hit it low on the face you get the ever famous “Worm Burner”. This happens because the bottom of the head is of much less loft then the center of the face. The same being said for the top of the head, it has a higher loft then the center of the face.

So, you are probably saying to yourself “That doesn’t make any sense. Why do golf manufactures do this. I want my driver to be the same loft no matter where I hit it on the face.” Well until 2007 you will not get your fix for this….shhh don’t tell anyone but I have been hired as a designer for another golf company and I will try to fix all of these problems for you guys in 2007.

But until then the best way to fix this is to tee the ball at the same height EVERY SINGLE TIME. The only way to do this is to accurately is to test out different tee heights until you get to your optimal ball flight then mark the tee.

Then all you need to do is take all of your tees and match it up with the one you had at the range that had your ball flight, just where you wanted it.

Have fun with a sea scooter

Posted in Uncategorized

A sea scooter is a water propeller which facilitates the practices of divers as well as it ads fun to their activities. It makes the practice of this sport easier and allows divers to spend their energies in a better way. These devices usually are small and light, providing comfort not only in their use but also in their transportation.

Sea scooters are used for many different sea related sports and practices besides diving, such as for swimming and snorkeling. Whatever sport you practice you will find it to be an easier and funnier activity by including a sea scooter in your practices. Sea scooters come with a set of batteries which allow you to use them for a certain amount of time and which might vary from 60, 90 or even 150 minutes without having to recharge them.

Most sea scooters can be used in many different water environments, from a swimming pool to the sea. Therefore, they would allow you to use them in many different situations and places, providing a very wide range of uses in such a way that let your imagination fly.

Sea scooters are designed and thought in order to be as practical and useful as possible according to the help which swimmers and divers might need from them. If you let them go or they become obstructed by something, they would instantly stop and float. Besides, if you are on a depth down to about thirty feet, most sea scooters allow you to select and adjust the buoyancy. The speed in which they run is usually 2mph although you might be able to find some of them faster as well as some of them slower.

Most divers find sea scooters easy to use without having problems regarding their functioning. Besides, they are very easy to be carried. Manufacturers usually use light materials for making them, allowing divers to handle them without much effort or difficulty. They are thought according to divers and swimmers needs, and this becomes reflected on the way in which they easily adapt to these sports practices.

Link Baiting Idea

Posted in Uncategorized

What do you mean by Link Baiting?

This is a new idea born among webmasters to gain popularity for their blogs/web page. As you all know getting attention is an old trick, weather in real life or online. Politician uses this often to stay in limelight. This same rule applies to link baiting as well.

There are two different flavors in link baiting idea. Good and bad. Good ones are those to create news first like exposing scams and create news, which will surprise everyone.
Bad ones are those you create a controversy or attach some leading personalities in your blogs. Think that you are trying to gain traffic not really hurt anyone. These kinds of tricks or ideas will bring in 1000’s of website/blogs linking to
your site.

Link baiting idea is a blackhat technique that’s why most webmasters think it is not legitimate to use it. But the effects of link baiting have profound effect and gradually drive traffic to your blog or site. If implement properly it can draw huge links with minimum effort from your side.
Some link expert’s call that “hooks” http://performancing.com has mentioned the 5 types of “hooks” as News, Contrary, attack resource and Humor.

Matt Cutts the Google Engineer in his blog about SEO advice has mentioned “LinkBait” as something interesting to catch people’s attention. He say’s Linkbaiting is not a bad idea.
So creating attention is the key to that also person should be creative in his thought to get that idea into place.

You might all have heard of Alex Tew of http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com he created an idea to raise a Million $ to raise funds for his college education by selling 1 pixel for a $ on his website. After four months he accomplished the task. This is the kind of news you should create to get attention. His site was also mentioned in CNN News as well. After his idea there are 100 of sites mushroomed over the web like one cent pixels but they are not gaining to achieve the results Alex could drew to his website. So be first to create news before it gets crowded.

Actually the term “linkbait” was started by Aaron Wall of SEO book in his post way back in August 2005. He says in his post that if “you are in a field that can’t build links naturally create linkbait”. By creating something on your web site that’s funny, controversial, informative, or creative, it will gain natural linkswhich is the key to top search engine rankings.

Andy Hagan’s has come up with an idea to throw a contest to get links. The idea is simple give Andy a link baiting idea and if that works you will earn $1000 for that. He has posted that on BizNicheMedia.com blog. So his idea for a contest itself is an example of link baiting.

And generating information or ideas that people talk about is a surefire way to generate links.

Muay Thai – The Genesis of Kickboxing

Posted in Uncategorized

Many people are familiar with kickboxing, thanks to popular films like Ring of Fire, but not many have heard of muay thai, from which many of the rules and moves of kickboxing originated. Muay thai (pronounced mooay tie) is the national sport of Thailand, and is widely known throughout Southeast Asia. Muay thai was one of the first of the Southeast Asian martial arts to be exported to the West, and many of the earliest well-known martial artists based their own fighting techniques on muay thai. Bruce Lee, for instance, analyzed muay thai moves in the early 1960s. In Cambodia it is known as pradal seray, in Malaysia it is called tomoi and in Myanmar it is called lethwei. No matter where it is practiced, though, it’s essentially the same sport – a martial art that uses the hands, feet, elbows and knees as points of contact and weapons.

Muay thai has been practiced in Thailand and other southeastern countries for centuries. It gradually evolved from bouts between different units in the army to timed bouts with rules taking place in arenas around the country. It originated in the battlefield techniques of the Siamese army who found themselves fighting in the rough, close terrain of Thailand and Burma. They developed a style of fighting that used combinations of fast, furious punches, kicks, elbow and knee strikes to make the best use of every part of the body. In the late 1500s, King Naresuan the Great officially made muay thai training part of all military training.

Muay thai is intertwined with the history of Thailand in many ways. One of the most popular tales is that of Nai Khanom Tom and the ten Burmese warriors. In 1767, the Thai capital fell to Burmese warriors. The Burmese king was curious to see how the field techniques of his own soldiers measured up to those of the muay thai boxers. Nai Khanom Tom was chosen to go head to head with a Burmese solder, whom he easily defeated. The king was so impressed with this technique that he made an offer to the warrior. If he could defeat ten Burmese warriors one after another, Nai Khanom Tom would have his freedom – and two wives. The Thai warrior was victorious, and returned home a hero.

Muay thai is a national pastime – the most passionately followed spectator sport in Thailand and much of Southeast Asia. Its popularity has spread throughout the world, and in 1995, the World Muay Thai Council was established by cabinet resolution to promote the ideals, techniques and all other elements of muay thai.

Muay Thai Matches, Rules and Equipment

Muay thai is fought in five three-minute rounds separated by two minute breaks. The fight is presided over by a referee, and scoring is determined by three judges who are trained observers. Each of the judges awards points to fighters based on their performance, and the fighter with the most points is awarded the round. At the end of the fight, the fighter with the most rounds is declared the winner of the fight.

There’s more to a muay thai match than the fighting, though. Each fight is accompanied by a band playing next to the boxers’ ring. The band consists of horn, drums and cymbals, and begins playing with the opening dance. As the action in the fight quickens, the tempo of the music accelerates to keep up, bringing the audience’s collective pulses along for the ride.

An important part of each match is the preliminary dance of thanks and respect offered by each opponent, called the wai khru. The styles of those dances are very individual and often serve to announce which school and instructor taught the fighter his technique.

In the early years, the only protection worn by a muay thai fighter was makeshift gloves – string wrapped around the knuckles and fist. Today all boxers are required to wear full safety equipment when competing to lessen the chance of injuries. Muay thai matches are held all over the world, and there is a formal ranking system to recognize the best and most accomplished muay thai fighters in the world.
